Why I Built PrepPanel

I was tired of choosing between good answers and full participation. Turns out, with the right system, you can have both.

As a licensed teacher and learner advocate, I saw the same pattern in every classroom: volunteers gave great answers but only a handful of students ever spoke, while cold calling got everyone involved but produced anxious, low-quality responses.

The impossible tradeoff was obvious:

  • Rely on volunteers? High-quality responses, but only 5 kids ever talk
  • Use cold calling? Full participation, but low-quality responses and student anxiety

PrepPanel started with a simple insight: what if students could see their turn coming?

Built-in wait time means when a student's name appears in the queue, they've already had time to think. You get the participation of cold calling with the quality of volunteers, minus the anxiety, embarrassment, and broken trust.

What began as a solution to the participation problem grew into a full classroom workflow tool:
